Appliances (including mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and other smart devices) other than the appliance being used to take the test must be turned off. Any contenders using an appliance to record or capture test materials or speak with a third party will have their test repealed.
Please note: You will have a total of 35 minutes to finish your test. It is expected a CCL test is completed in about 20 minutes. An additional 15 minutes will be added to allow you to read the directions. If your test runs for longer than this time, NAATI reserves the right to stop the test. The evaluation will be made on the performance to that point.
To access the NAATI CCL test, a candidate will need to have a proper appliance and a strong internet connection.
Please note that if you are using a public WiFi network, there is a chance that access to the test will be bounded.
It is the responsibility of a candidate to assure the minimum internet speed requirement is available on the exam day, as well as reliable equipment (laptop, phone, and headphones).
Should the test not be able to proceed due to a defective appliance or a slow internet connection, it will be cancelled.
You must have one laptop or computer to complete your test with the following:
-
Functioning microphone and webcam
-
A proper internet connection
The test platform needs the use of Google products, as such candidates need the ability to access and use these without any interference. The exam will not be able to be taken if this is not possible.
The latest version of Google Chrome web browser is installed.
You can operate ProctorExam on Windows 8 or higher, Mac OS X or higher, ChromeOS, and most Linux distributions (64-bit Ubuntu 14.04+, Debian 8+, openSUSE 13.3+, or Fedora Linux 24+.)

Please synchronize your headset to your device before the test. Separate and built-in speakers are not allowed due to audio issues.
You will require to use the exact headset for the system check and the test.
We do not advise the use of Bluetooth or wireless headsets due to the possibility of connectivity issues during testing.
Your mobile phone will be utilized as a second camera to document your environment. You’ll require to download the ProctorExam application (34MB) which is compatible with any Android 4.1 or higher and iOS (Apple) 10.0 or higher.

You should assure your device is functioning correctly and charged before the test. Due to the variances in the devices candidates use, only limited technical help will be available during the test.
CCL tests contain two documented dialogues. Each test dialogue is based on a conversation between an English speaker and a speaker of your LOTE. The dialogues are divided into segments (LOTE and English), you will require to start each recording and begin your interpretation after the chime.
CCL contenders must be able to:
-
Experience effectively where relatively easy data is swapped without any significant variation from the norms of pronunciation, the standard of expression, style, and register.
-
Give the sense of what is uttered by the speakers and present correct comprehension and production in both English and the LOTE
Each of the dialogues will be from different circumstances and surroundings.
You will not have access to any materials during the test other than a pen and blank paper that you will need to supply.
You are not allowed to use any electronic resources during the CCL test session.
This includes any live caption or transcription elements that are strictly forbidden and typing of notes (handwritten notes only).
If you need hearing aids, please notify NAATI at least one week before your exam date by mailing photographs and the model number of your hearing aids to the official website.
ProctorExam will conduct the required pre-test administration including ID and room check. Please mark it may take up to 10-15 minutes to complete the setup but this won’t affect your test time. Once this is completed you will be prompted to click on your test link.
During the dialogues, you are needed to convey the sense of what each speaker says in the other language. This means that you should start your answer shortly after the segment is finished. A delay of 5 seconds is permitted without penalty.
The maximum overall test time is 35 minutes. Your performance may not be assessed after reaching that point.
You may repeat any segment before you start your interpretation. In such cases, the whole segment will be repeated. The first repetition in each dialogue may be requested without penalty; however, any further requests for the repetitions may be penalized by the examiner.
